The Art of Heather Friedli

Heather Friedli’s contemporary impressionist oil paintings, characterized by bold brushwork and vibrant colors, illuminate scenes of cloudscapes, water, and native flora. Rooted in her family’s Native American and Mexican heritage, her art seamlessly intertwines with the landscapes she inhabits. Heather is often immersed in the wilderness when creating, taking her paints outside to capture the liveliness of nature. Her art is a powerful synthesis of her deep love for and experiences within the natural world, embodying the beauty, rhythm, and color of the land.

Other aspects of Heather’s art practice include snow sculpting and stone carving. As part of her 2024 Family Artist Residency at Franconia, Heather is creating a marble sculpture on-site that will be displayed in the park upon completion.

The Art of Heather Friedli opens at the Franconia Commons on April 23, 2024 with a public reception with the artist on Sunday, May 5 during the Franconia Art & Farmers Market from 10am-2pm, with remarks from the artist at 1pm.  

About the Artist:

Heather Friedli was born in Los Angeles, CA in 1982. She received a Bachelor of Fine Art from the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) in 2005. In 2010 Heather Thru-Hiked the Appalachian Trail which upon completion inspired her to continue her work as an artist concentrating on the natural world. She currently is enjoying life in Saint Paul with her husband Ben and sons Orion and Sirius.
