Three days of family-friendly fun: Friday night parade, all-female cast iron exhibition, interactive installation, live iron pour, food, music
Friday, May 18 from 4-10pm
Saturday, May 19 from 12-8pm
Sunday, May 20 from 12-5pm
The weekend kicks off with The Best-Looking Man in Comedy, Fancy Ray McCloney, officiating a mashup of local talent — All Your Favorite Things
Also featured during the weekend will be a sculpture/project by FSP Alum James Brenner: The Hydro Wish Tree. What is your wish for the health of the Mississippi River? What does the river mean to you and in your life? Visitors are invited to add their own ideas of challenges facing the river and qualities needed to overcome these challenges by creating a unique mission statement, writing it on a colored leaf, and hanging it upon an artistic vision tree.
This year at Art-A-Whirl®, as part of Unyielding Shapes: An Exhibition of Women in Contemporary Cast Iron curated by Rose von Muchow, Minnesota artists converge, fire up a furnace to 2,700 degrees, and pour molten iron to form cast metal sculptures! You are invited to participate in this unique and intriguing process of metal casting during this outdoor iron pour at Franconia in the City@Casket as we celebrate Art-A-Whirl®, the largest art crawl in the nation.
Food by Taco Taxi and Asase Yaa Global Foods and Catering all three days! This event is free and open to the public. Grab your friends, family and join for a weekend of art and fun.
