June 13 - July 18
InTeRsEcT-Art Meets Feminism was recently founded by group of teenage women with the goal of providing an all inclusive space for teen artists to use creative mediums and themes to provoke discussion regarding feminist ideas and take action for social justice within the local arts community. They want to be a resource that opens doors to collaboration among young artists as well as one that helps form an environment where all voices have weight and input.
InTeRsEcT’s founding members Talulah McConnell, Kirsten Spolyar and Theadora Sutherland selected works showcasing a variety of different mediums created elusively by local teen artists. The work emphasizes social justice especially concepts pertaining to feminism. The selected artists' work will be on display in SooVAC's front gallery and will be incorporated into a zine available opening night.
The launch party will celebrate the talents of local teen artists and a call to action for more all inclusive engagement promoted by the creation of the group InTeRsEcT-Art Meets Feminism. The party will also include live music and the sale of the first InTeRsEcT zine.
