A group show curated by Jess Larson
IC: Mari Hernandez, 'Snout' (detail), 2016, photograph, 12x18"
In the mid-1980's, Judy Chicago's work radically shifted ideas, materials and processes in feminist art. After: Birth is a collection from two generations of artists freely exploring and challenging the constructs that define them as women and women artists. The show specifically addresses contemporary responses to the concepts of motherhood, sexuality and the role of embroidery, fibers, clay and photography in third- and fourth-wave feminist art.
