Blocked View | Beth Dorsey

Obstacles or objects often block our view. We see through and around windows, doors, gates, fences, curtains, and blinds; they change what we are looking at. Our mind fills in the missing information, unaware of how much is missing and how much we make up. The works in this exhibit play with and illustrate this concept. Images are created and other images are superimposed which interact and change the original view.

Visual barriers which block our view are rarely identified or acknowledged, but change what we see and how we see. This is a metaphor of how our understanding of the world is compromised by missing information, blocked information, and information overridden.

Beth Dorsey is a printmaker residing in Minneapolis, MN. Printmaking has been her focus since she was an undergrad, attending Rhode Island School of Design and New York University. She has shown locally and nationally.

The Visitor Center is open daily from 9 am - 5 pm.
