FRIDLEY ART CENTER HOSTS A NIGHT CELEBRATING MINNESOTAN CROP ART WITH FREE COMMUNITY EVENT.
Crop and Paste; A Night of Crop Art is an extension of North Suburban Center for the Arts, North Suburban Nights programming. NSCA will have a free event celebrating the beloved state-fair tradition of crop art and local artists will show guests how to make their own creations.
North Suburban Center for the Arts (NSCA) invites the Twin Cities metro and surrounding suburban communities to celebrate a night of Crop Art on Thursday, October 20th from 5-8pm. Crop art is the practice of using seeds and plants to create images. Each year, this practice is most commonly celebrated at the Minnesota State Fair, with artists receiving awards. NSCA is dedicating an evening to Crop Art appreciation and creation as part of their North Suburban Nights program, an activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund. With this event, NSCA invites the public to switch from viewer to artist and create crop artworks themselves. This event will include demonstrations from Minnesota State Fair crop artists, Christy Klancher and Sarah Jerome, along with a small bonfire and S’mores packs for purchase outside the center. Klancher and Jerome will demonstrate how a piece is started, completed, and respond to questions. Included in this demonstration, NSCA will provide a free miniature crop art activity. Guests are encouraged to participate by making their own small creations.
