Join the Textile Center in embracing color and connection through fiber art!
What’s Fiber Art for All (FAFA)?
This weeklong celebration of fiber art started in 2020 as a way to celebrate all things fiber art and textiles, to stay connected during a time of isolation, and to stay inspired during our cold and dark Minnesota winters. FAFA has evolved with our changing times, and we now offer in-person and virtual ways to engage with us during the week!
Our Fiber Art for All goal remains the same: To offer fiber art events for all ages and familiarities with fiber arts, to foster new connections, to nurture longtime connections, and to spread the joy of fiber art with our community.
This year’s theme is Fiber Art for All: Winter in Bloom. We have an exciting lineup of events (below), including the return of our Makers Market, artist and guild demos, exhibitions, a collaborative community flower project, and more!
Open House:
Celebrating all things fiber art, it will be a fun-filled day of events at Textile Center, with the Markets Market (12 – 5 pm), our Flora Borealis community winter garden project + garden lighting (5 pm), warm beverages from Misfit Coffee, fiber art demos (10 am – 5 pm), a Fiber Finds sale in our shop (10 am – 5 pm), and free exhibitions to browse.
Events Lineup:
Makers Market
Join us for the return of our Makers Market this February during our Fiber Art for All week, featuring the work of 25 local artists and makers!
Saturday, February 24, 2024, from 12 – 4 pm
From embroidered and beaded earrings, crocheted stuffed animals, vibrant tufted rugs, to hand-spun yarn, cyanotype-printed garments, quilted wall art, and more, there’s sure to be something for all textile and fiber art lovers!
Flora Borealis Community Winter Garden
Textile Center is seeking donations of fiber art flowers for our community winter garden! We invite everyone — all ages and skill levels — to participate by creating a flower using your favorite fiber art form or technique.
STEP ONE: Create your flower
Please do your best to make sure your flower doesn’t have loose pieces that may fly away with the wind, and to use natural fibers in making your flower.
STEP TWO: Drop off or mail in your flower
Drop off or mail in your flower (2 inches to 2 ft large) anytime now until February 20, 2024!
STEP THREE: Watch the garden grow!
We’ll awaken the garden by displaying all of our fiber flowers through the week of Feb 20-24, 2024. Join us for a grand reveal + garden lighting on Saturday, Feb 24, at 5 pm.
Fiber Finds Sale
Many fiber goods have found their way into our hands over the years. We’ve assembled the brightest and most colorful pieces, filled with floral and nature prints, for our Fiber Finds Sale during Fiber Art for All: Winter in Bloom! Find Guatemalan and Indian textiles, garments and quilted goods, and more. Add some color to your wardrobe during the colorless winter months!
Shop the sale all week long, Tuesday, Feb 20 – Saturday, Feb 24, in our Textile Center Shop.
Artist + Guild Demos
Stop by the booths of some of our member guilds and artists for special try-it opportunities!
