Growing Pains II: Expected Disappointments | WASIMA FARAH

Soomaal Visual Arts Fellowship is a partnership between Soomaal House of Art and Augsburg Galleries that aims to harness the power of art as a tool for intellectual and civic engagement by advocating and advancing the creative development of Somali visual artists. 

Farah delves into the complex dynamics of the relationship between a mother and eldest daughter, exploring themes of generational trauma, emotional legacies, and communication gaps. This second installment of her Growing Pains series includes a video installation and paintings centered around the color red (anger and wisdom) that encourage an open dialogue about hurt and healing, offering space to express emotions and begin breaking the cycle of pain.
