New works by JW Green and Lauren Scavo-Fulk
JW Green "Hana No'eau Hana Hou (Art Again)"
Art has always been a part of JW Green's life. While pursuing his BFA, he was a technical illustrator. In the US Army, he was a mapmaker and photographer. And while freelancing as a graphic designer in Hawaii, his talent led him to a corporate career in advertising, both in Honolulu and on the Mainland. His personal artwork was always on the backburner. As he approached retirement, Green got more serious about pursuing what he'd always wanted to do "when I grew up." His paintings continue to evolve and he hopes this show will be an inspiration to others to pursue their passion, no matter what their age or how long it takes."
Lauren Scavo-Fulk "Being in The World"
Lauren Scavo-Fulk is drawn to landscapes because, as she says, they "are so involved in human life, they lend themselves well to the discussion of personal experience." She explains that her work is influenced by phenomenology, which Scavo-Fulk describes as "a branch of philosophy that deals with the subjectivity of experience, as our knowledge of the world comes primarily through our senses." She adds, "I present the viewer with scenes of heightened atmosphere that are indicative of a sense of reflection and quiet attention to the elements of the world that are both physical and nonphysical."
