JXTA 2nd Annual Sneaker Ball

JXTA 2nd Annual Sneaker Ball

Join JXTA for a landmark celebration of 100 Years of Art & Culture: The Harlem Renaissance!

Join us at Sneaker Ball, the annual fundraiser for Juxtaposition Arts. We will gather to celebrate 100 Years of art & culture by immersing ourselves in the vibrant artistic spirit of modern youth. Let’s enjoy food, drink, dancing, and community! Special photo  opportunities are available on JXTA’s campus.

This year's theme, Harlem Renaissance, celebrates JXTA's direct connection to the historical movement birthed in the 1920's in Harlem, New York from hatred, injustice, and cruelty experienced by African Americans; an era that re-defined freedom and excellence  through an explosion of genius and creativity. This legacy continues to empower youth artists of color today.

Sankofa, a word derived from Ghana, Africa, represents the idea of "returning to go forward" or "learning from the past to move forward." In the spirit of Sankofa, we will physically pair our elegant attire with modern streetwear sneakers. Guests will  celebrate the past, present, and future of Black expression through art, music, dancing, and community.

By attending Sneaker Ball, you directly uplift the future of youth within the artistic community of North Minneapolis. Don't miss this chance to uplift voices, honor the legacy of the Harlem Renaissance and the injustices and traumas it emerged from, party  with our community, and empower more art education opportunities for the next generation of changemakers in the Twin Cities.
