ARTIST BIO
Kate Renee is a professional artist based in Burnsville, MN, specializing in acrylic paintings on birch with resin. Her fine art has a storybook aesthetic with deeper social, political, and feminist themes. Through metaphor, symbolism, and sarcastic titles, she challenges perspectives and sparks conversations that reveal hidden narratives beneath the surface. With years of experience with galleries, solo exhibitions, and selling to private collectors, Kate has established herself as an advanced artist dedicated to evolving her craft.
Beyond her studio practice, Kate actively shares her expertise. Since 2011, she has inspired artists through What Art School Didn’t Teach You, a blog that provides guidance on navigating art business. She has taught business arts courses at Artistry, and consults emerging artists on professional development.
In addition to running her own consulting business, Kate helps organizations maximize their revenue in the museum shop sector. She led the creation of the most comprehensive Entomology STEM Pinning Kit on the market. In addition to the art and science of insect pinning, Kate has a deep interest in the intersection of art and science and has studied taxidermy and wet specimen preservation.
Kate remains committed to making art accessible and impactful for artists at all levels. Her vision is to create thought-provoking artwork that engages audiences while empowering others through creative education.
