REMEMBRANCE & LOVE | Paintings by Shen Pei

While Shen Pei's paintbrush style is deeply rooted in Chinese traditions - tracing back to early training in her youth - her 70 years of experience as a dancer and choreographer afford her a unique and dynamic point of view as a visual artist, allowing her to capture vivid images that are full of movement and spirit, and stir the viewer’s emotion and imagination.  REMEMBRANCE: Awe-inspiring landscape paintings evoke the memory of Shen Pei's father. They are metaphors for the fateful roads he traveled, as a military leader and hero during World War II, and for his spirit that still reverberates in the land.  LOVE: Intimate and very personal paintings of wildlife, pets, plants, and everyday objects capture the essence of love, longing, family, friendship and sorrow.
