Marathoners flock to the Twin Cities the first weekend in October to run. Art enthusiasts flock to the Schmidt Artist Lofts to crawl.
Everybody better run to the crawl or you’ll miss the largest showcase of emerging and accomplished artists and musicians in St. Paul.
We’ve got an amazing “Schmidt Show” planned.
Start your tour at Mother Nature’s exhibit of a jaw-dropping view of St. Paul’s skyline from the rooftop of the historic Schmidt Brewery-turned-artist-lofts-and-creative-workspace. Then crawl your way to the underground tunnel level to find over 80 artists exhibiting and selling their work along the way. Schmidt resident artists, as well as visiting artists will exhibit many styles and mediums, including paintings, ceramics, illustration, jewelry, photography, block printing, woodworking, leather work, fiber arts, and more.
Open Palette live painting and art demonstrations will be conducted on the rooftop level. Attend a session and get inspired by this unique “spectator art,” with performers each hour. ‘Art from the Inside’, a nonprofit organization giving visual voice to incarcerated artists, will feature these artists in our Atrium.
Stay fueled during your crawl with coffee in our loft lobby, diverse food trucks offerings on our plaza, or the many restaurants within walking distance.
Art Crawl is not just visual. For your hearing sensory experience – resident musicians will be performing during the Art Crawl at Schmidt. Dozens of musical performances will be at nearby White Squirrel, Shamrock’s, and other locations along West 7th will showcase these musicians and Schmidt resident musicians, as well.
Expand your art adventure by visiting West 7th Street’s Friedli Art Gallery and Great River Gallery. You’ll find more St. Paul Arts Collective Art Crawl locations spotlighted throughout the city Art Crawl weekend.
Make a whole day of it (or the whole weekend) in the West 7th Arts District of St. Paul.
Enter at Door 1 on the North side of the building by the tall smokestack. Attendance is FREE and ALL are welcome. Parking is FREE on nearby streets.
