Stargazer

The collection explores the impacts love can have on the individual for better or for worse. Whether that be platonic, paternal, or self love, STARGAZER, through its use of loose narrative and stylized experimentation, acts as a “love letter” to the effect interpersonal relationships have on oneself, and how that in turn defines both one’s understanding of self and the world that surrounds them. The entire show will feature a breadth of new works from the artist as well as an original score composed by friend and collaborator J Snowbowl. 

Artist Statement
Through the use of nontraditional media, Stevens’ work examines the strenuous nature of  lived experiences. Through his work, he gives space to emotions that he feels are too visceral to personally express with words, such as love, grief, and anger. As a storyteller, Stevens recognizes the power of narratives, and utilizes repeated characters, stylized forms, and graphic elements to re-contextualize the visuality of strife, trivializing the weight pain holds in one's life. He utilizes levity and sarcasm to underplay the impact trauma has on one’s existence.

Bio
Camden Stevens (C3) is a 22 Year old Minneapolis based American artist. His practice spans various mediums, creating digital, sound, and sculptural works. Stevens completed his BFA in Studio Art at the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities. His recent exhibitions include Vital Condition at the Nash Gallery and Temporal Exchange in the Quarter Gallery in Minneapolis, MN.
