Superbloom is a solo exhibition featuring vibrant, large-scale paintings by local artist Allison Johanson, on view at the TractorWorks Building in Minneapolis’ North Loop.
The selected paintings are from Johanson’s abstracted floral series, and include several of her largest works.
“I enjoy creating big paintings that feel alive, using intuitive, gestural brush marks and uncontrolled drips. Botanical imagery and floral themes emerge in many of my pieces,” says Johanson.
Johanson’s lyrical compositions are rooted in the natural world, and explore movement, stillness, serenity, and joy through the interplay of colors and shapes. Expressive and hopeful, Superbloom recalls the warmth and welcome energy of the growing seasons in Minnesota.
