Responding to the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Szyhalski began drawing Labor Camp Reports once again. Much like the COVID-19: Labor Camp Report series from 2020, this new and ongoing body of work serves as a way of witnessing and recording the experience of “extreme historical phenomenon” unfolding in real time. Although addressing specific conflicts, many of the War Reports operate on a more universal level condemning war and militarism while drawing our attention to the plight of civilians and refugees.
